Congress: Bolster Our Stockpile & Protect Americans From

DEADLY BIOLOGICAL THREATS.

America’s adversaries are actively developing biological weapons - using deadly pathogens like Anthrax - that can be deployed against our nation. The Director of National Intelligence in March, 2025 reported that these weapons can be deployed in a “clandestine attack” against our homeland. These attacks could kill millions of Americans, obliterate military readiness and destroy our economy.

After concerns that the Strategic National Stockpile was phasing out lifesaving medical countermeasures for these threats, such as Anthrax countermeasures, it became clear that we cannot let American families be vulnerable to an Anthrax attack.

Concerned Members of Congress acted - introducing key legislation (H.R. 2707) that bolsters the Stockpile's countermeasure inventory, modernizes a strategy for managing Anthrax threats, and holds the Stockpile accountable for continuing preparedness for this threat. Now, it’s time to act - Congress must pass H.R. 2707 and defend American families against Anthrax.

An Anthrax event could kill millions of Americans - destroying cities and crippling military readiness.

Somes U.S. Government estimates suggest an Anthrax event could cost “$26.2 billion per 100,000 persons exposed”.

“Iran probably aims to continue research and development of chemical and biological agents for offensive purposes. Iranian military scientists have researched chemicals, toxins, and bioregulators, all of which have a wide range of sedation, dissociation, and amnestic incapacitating effects.”

2001 Amerithrax Attacks

We learned after the 2001 Amerithrax attacks the importance of maintaining a strong Strategic National Stockpile that is equipped with medical countermeasures to treat Anthrax. Had these countermeasures been available at the time, precious American lives may had been saved.

We can’t forget history and return to a world where we are unprepared for these deadly threats.

That’s why Congress must pass H.R. 2707 and bolster our defenses from this deadly threat.

American families and the warfighter deserve protection from Chemical-Biological threats like Anthrax.

Congress must act now and pass lifesaving legislation that shores up American National Security from these threats.

  • H.R. 2707 develops a modernized strategy for ensuring the defense of the United States from the anthrax threat and ensures stockpiling to meet the Anthrax requirement.

  • H.R. 1980 bolsters states’ strategic stockpiles and readiness programs for biological or public health threats.

  • Congress must reauthorize the Pandemic All Hazards & Preparedness Act that strengthens and preserves the Strategic National Stockpile and BARDA.

  • Congress must fully appropriate adequate funds to meet the requirements of the Strategic National Stockpile, which has fallen chronically short on funds.
